Solarsoft, a developer of business software solutions for manufacturers and distributors worldwide, is currently searching for a Support Programmer for our enterprise resource planning system for discrete manufacturing, iVP, to join the Richmond Hill (Toronto) team to help continue our growth and success in North America.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the iVP Support Programming Manager, the Support
Programmer is mainly responsible for solving problems reported by
internal and external iVP software users. The primary goal is to
satisfy user complaints by delivering timely and accurate
solutions. The Support Programmer may undertake some development
projects for the iVP new release as well.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently on support issues and assigned
projects.
- Collect and interpret information to determine software
requirements and solutions.
- Identify and analyze issues/problems, design and implement
solutions.
- Manage projects to ensure deliverables are brought in on time,
within budget, and quality targets.
- Prepare functional/technical specifications and test
specifications.
- Prepare project estimation and schedule.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in computer science or equivalent
combination of education and related experience.
- 3 - 5 years programming experience in an iSeries environment
using ILE/RPG or equivalent related experience preferably in a
manufacturing and/or distribution sector.
- Strong understanding of development and production
processes.
- Thorough understanding and practical application of analytical
tools and methodologies, design concepts, and programming
techniques.
- Good communication skills.
- Knowledge on EDI, XML and Java will be a plus.
