Tavens Packaging & Display Solutions has chosen to upgrade to the latest version of Solarsoft’s business software for corrugated packaging manufacturers. Vancouver, BC - 12 January 2011 -
Solarsoft Business Systems, a leading developer of software for the
paperboard packaging industry, announced today that Tavens
Packaging & Display Solutions of Bedford Heights, OH, has
chosen to upgrade to the latest version of Solarsoft's business
software for corrugated packaging manufacturers.
Tavens, one of the largest sheet plants in North Eastern Ohio,
has provided high quality packaging and display solutions and
services to their customers for over 50 years.
"We're really a job shop, and do whatever the customer needs,"
explains Jan Piko, Vice President of Operations at Tavens. "We do
it all, boxes, labels, displays, high-end graphics, and assembly.
We manufacture a lot of small runs with one to two day lead times,
and can even do same day releases. We're a small, nimble company,
and our niche is delivering on projects that the integrated
manufacturers can't handle."
Tavens has used Solarsoft's HRMS corrugated software for 12
years. After an evaluation of offerings from Kiwiplan and Amtech,
Tavens chose to upgrade with Solarsoft because of the new
technology that would provide complete control of all their
operations, including shop floor and scheduling. Upgrading to
Solarsoft's latest version would also cause less disruption to
their existing operations, and require minimum training for their
employees.
In addition to the core business system, Tavens selected several
add-ons to further enhance business performance in project
estimating and tracking, production planning and scheduling,
real-time shop floor monitoring, and bar-coded inventory
management.
"With the new technology, our customer service people will have
all the information they need at their fingertips. We can collect
real-time information from the shop floor that will directly feed
into our business system for accurate production information. The
project tracking software will help us better manage our projects,
timelines and materials requirements," says Piko. "With our quick
turn-around, it's crucial to know exactly what the status of the
customer order is, at any given time. And with the small run size
we need to have tight control of all costs to ensure we stay
profitable on each order."
