Label and tag manufacturer applies Solarsoft’s integrated ERP business system for retail packaging operations to streamline operations and enhance inventory and traceability management.
Vancouver, BC - June 19, 2012 - Solarsoft Business Systems, a
leading provider of enterprise software and IT services to
manufacturers worldwide, is pleased to announce that Solarsoft's
business system for retail packaging operations, Solarsoft aVP, has
been selected by pressure sensitive product label and tag
manufacturer Sunwest Print Corporation.
Headquartered in Port Coquitlam, BC, Sunwest Print Corporation
provides turn-key labeling services to a variety of markets. To
support the growth of its business, Sunwest sought to replace its
manual spreadsheet-based systems with one integrated real-time
business system that could help streamline day-to-day
operations.
"Manually scheduling jobs using paper dockets is very
time-consuming," says Jennette Cooper, Controller at Sunwest. "With
Solarsoft, we'll be able to create and modify the schedule in
real-time, with the effects of any changes automatically cascading
down."
Sunwest also uses a manual job quotation system. "Because we
currently have no easy way of back-calculating costs without
manually going back and doing it, we see the costing and quoting
modules of Solarsoft saving us significant time and energy," says
Alex Hansen, VP of Sales & Marketing at Sunwest.
Sunwest's inventory challenge is to improve end-to-end raw
material traceability. "We wanted a better way to track raw
material components, including the silicone, adhesive, liner and
sheet, that go into the coater and emerge as finished laminated
rolls," says Hansen. "We can currently track finished goods from
the press onwards, but Solarsoft's shop floor software offers
superior raw material tracking."
With Solarsoft's management dashboards, Sunwest will have
up-to-date information about their business performance.
"Solarsoft's dashboards will give us the ability to analyze our
business performance at a level we just don't have now," says Jim
Dunlop, President of Sunwest. "We'll have a clear real-time
presentation of the key indicators affecting our performance so we
can make decisions and take action immediately."
"The availability of local support and the management dashboards
were important factors in our decision to partner with Solarsoft,"
says Hansen. "We ultimately chose Solarsoft because we found that
their software, which is geared for our industry, offers us a
significant improvement in cost, inventory and traceability
management capabilities we couldn't get anywhere else."
"We are delighted that Sunwest Print, a leading label converter
to the food and grocery industry, has selected Solarsoft for its
long term business systems needs," comments Andy Armitage, Senior
Vice President at Solarsoft. "The ability to combine both
conventional and digital production processes within one system
will also provide Sunwest with the technology solution to match
their long term business objectives."
