Faber Music awarded for technical excellence with voice-directed warehouse management system
23 Oct 2009 - The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
awarded one of the industry's highest accolades, the CILT
Excellence Award, to Faber Music for its implementation of a voice
direct picking system in its warehouse.
The award was won for clear returns seen by Faber. Since
deploying the solution Faber has increased order accuracy and
cut delivery lead-times by 50%. In addition it has improved staff
flexibility, productivity by over 35% and reduced errors to
virtually zero. It has also enabled its customer base to
reduce their own inventory levels and reduced the time to market
for new products. A full return on investment for the project was
achieved within 13 months.
The project employed equipment supplied by Zetes Industries and
is built on the Warehouse Management System supplied by Solarsoft
Business Systems. The two IT suppliers worked together with Faber
management to achieve a radical improvement in operations at the
north London based distributer of sheet music.
Faber Music prints under its own imprint and also controls the
European print rights to Warner Brothers Publications and EMI Music
Publishing. Faber Music Distribution stocks in excess of 177,000
titles/SKUs and ships over 45,500 order lines per month
to music retailers and wholesalers and to the public through
its website www.expressprintmusic.com.
