Volk Packaging saves time and improves customer service with bar-coded inventory tracking

Since the implementation of the bar-coded inventory tracking software from Solarsoft, Volk Packaging Corp. has had tight control of their inventory. This manufacturer of high-quality corrugated products was struggling to know what finished goods they had available, where finished goods were stored in their warehouse, and how to resolve the discrepancies recorded in their monthly physical inventory counts.

Volk Packaging designs, manufactures and distributes high-quality corrugated products including shipping containers, inner packaging, and point-of-purchase displays throughout New England.

The Biddeford, ME, operation runs a 140,000 square foot facility, and serves customers in a diverse range of industries including electronics, technology markets, food and beverage industries, printing, and woodworking.

Before Solarsoft, Volk Packaging would do a physical inventory count every month. Volk has now eliminated monthly physical inventory counts.

Another benefit of Solarsoft has been the visibility that Volk now has into the accurate inventory information. "All of the goods can now be found easily, even by people not on the plant floor as our business system shows the accurate inventory count, and Solarsoft identifies the location in our warehouse," notes Doug Hellstrom, CFO at Volk.
