Prior to selecting Solarsoft iVP, the company had been using an unsupported, highly customized and non-integrated MRP II solution that, according to CFO, Doug Sledge, simply was no longer providing he and his managers with the tools they needed as the company moved forward. “We not only needed beginning-to-end control of all our processes, from taking and shipping orders to manufacturing and accounting, we also needed an ERP solution that would help us optimize our resources as we continue growing.”
After the company’s information systems staff identified Solarsoft Business Systems’ Solarsoft iVP as a possible replacement and managers from each department throughout the enterprise evaluated its capabilities from their perspective, they recommended the solution to Edward S. Robbins III, President and CEO. Mr. Robbins then considered the CMSi5 solution’s established reputation within the plastics industry and assessed its ability to meet each division’s technical and business needs before granting final purchase approval.
Solarsoft iVP is central to an enterprise-wide IT modernization initiative, says Mr. Sledge. “We’re upgrading the total system across the company, including a web commerce software, a CRM solution and a bar-coding application. Solarsoft iVP is the heart of that, because it will enable us to integrate the data from these applications into our entire operation, from front office to shop floor.”
Among the immediate benefits Mr. Sledge anticipates are improved efficiencies in his company’s administrative and manufacturing processes, as well as an increased refinement of its inventory management, shipping management and scheduling capabilities. But he also has one eye looking to the future, “Over the foreseeable future, by implementing iVP and modernizing our systems in general we will be able to meet our growth goals, optimize our resources and minimize costs.”
