Solarsoft was formed from the combined businesses of CMS Software Inc of Toronto and UK based XKO Software Ltd, which merged in April 2007 and renamed as Solarsoft Business Systems.

CMS Software Inc was founded in 1986 with the goal of developing comprehensive enterprise systems for manufacturers in the automotive supply chain. Early successes and a reputation for bullet-proof reliability led to rapid expansion in the range of industries and markets served. CMS soon established a loyal customer base across North America. Supporting the growth of offshore manufacturing, CMS opened offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China in 2005.

In 2006 CMS acquired Mattec Corporation, a manufacturer of manufacturing execution systems based in Loveland, Ohio. Mattec equipment performs real-time monitoring of shop floor plant and operations, providing the raw data essential to improved efficiency and quality. Mattec systems are now distributed worldwide and available stand-alone or integrated with Solarsoft’s enterprise resource planning systems.

XKO Software Limited was formed in 1999 from the merger of two established UK companies with a long tradition of meeting customer needs for enterprise software in the distribution and wholesale & merchant sectors. The company grew organically and through further acquisition as XKO Group plc. The enterprise software business was acquired by Marlin Equity Partners in 2006.

In November 2007, Solarsoft acquired VantagePoint Systems, Inc. the leading supplier of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to the global packaging industry. With products tailored to corrugated and consumer packaging specialists, the company’s products are used in hundreds of plants spanning single plant firms as well as the largest vertically integrated operators. VantagePoint Systems was formed in 1998 and acquired the Harry Rohde software business, HRMS, in 2005.

Solarsoft is now an integrated software and services provider with 400 professional staff serving customers from offices spanning 16 time zones.
